Sony Ericsson Phones to Build on the Popularity of Walkman brand

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michael_Hanna]Michael Hanna With the mobile phone marketplace increasingly competitive and the major phone manufacturers needing to diversify and update continually, we look at Sony Ericsson’s use of the Walkman brand to keep at the head of the pack. Coke, Nike, McDonalds, Starbucks and the Sony Walkman perhaps these brands have the status as the most recognisable and iconic brands of the last century. To attain such a prestige position in the social consciousness is a marketers dream and one that should be capitalised on. Take the Sony Walkman, a brand that emerged first in the late 1970′s and attained an unparalleled position as the most recognised consumer or electronic good throughout the 80′s and 90′s. Even with the emergence of MP3 technology and the shift of music from cassettes and CD’s to files, the Walkman brand still pervades in the mind of those of us old enough to remember the mid 1980′s. Little wonder, then than Sony are reincarnating the Walkman in as many formats as possible to try and capitalise on the brand awareness that the Walkman still manages to conjure up. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the recent ranges of mobile phones from Sony Ericsson. The Walkman branding came back in a big way at the beginning of 2006 with the release of a range of Walkman branded [http://www.dialaphone.co.uk/sonyericssonphones.html ]Sony Ericsson Phones. Recognising the movement towards MP3 technology within the mobile phone market, Sony wasted no time in reeling out the old star brand and stamping it over its’ range of phones to herald in the new era of music player capability within mobile handsets. The Walkman range of phones (or W range) is squarely aimed at music lovers and most of the handsets include a 512 MB memory card to support the handsets MP3 capabilities. The existing range of phones are best sellers and needless to say that an update range of Walkman branded phones is in the [http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?cc=gb&lc=en&ver=4000&template=ph1&zone=ph ]Sony Ericsson pipeline. Second time around and in a different marketplace and in a completely different landscape as far as music consumption and storage is concerned, the Walkman is a star again. The mobile phone industry is a perfect fit for Walkman and Sony recognises this. The nature of the Walkman, portable, fashionable, ubiquitous the only regret for Sony might be that MP3 technology did not emerge 5 years before it eventually did. If that were the case, the Sony Ericsson might be looking at an even larger slice of the handset manufacturer than it does now. Internet Dating as It Truly Is: Did You Really Think It Was Going to be That Easy?

By Laurence Baker I don’t know what you’ve been told about internet dating, but it’s not always as easy as 1,2,3. If you’ve searched around or thought about it much then you’re probably aware of the upsides. Ultimately, there’s no better, faster way to sort through and find potential mates that fit the “profile.” You can take your search much further than you normally could offline. And if know yourself, what you want, and what to look for, you can get great results. This is the stuff advertisements are made of. But with these advantages usually come certain challenges that you’ll need to work through. By the way, if you don’t know yourself well and what it is you want, that’s fine. Have fun with it and learn. Just don’t expect to meet your match right away. You can use the internet to help you discover these things. What you can’t do is use internet dating to smooth out all of your rough spots and work some kind of magic for you. This will not be fruitful. Because sooner or later, it all comes down to the weakest link. As an example, some people who live in areas of low population will get online expecting this to fix that problem for them. They end up blaming the service when they don’t find a lot people from their area online. They were hoping for something that the online world can’t necessarily help them with. So it may not provide the automatic solution you were hoping for. The question is, what does it allow you to do that you couldn’t easily do before? How can this make up for the original problem? It’s a negotiation. Sometimes you have to give a little before you can take, or in this case, before you can benefit from this new situation called internet dating. You have to ask yourself, how important is this? In this example, would it be important enough to drive a little further or arrange to meet halfway? Because this is an option that wasn’t easily available before. If not, then there must be other things that are more important. What are they? Others become cynical and quit when their dates don’t represent themselves accurately or honestly online. It can happen to anyone. It will probably happen to you. But it seems to happen a lot more to some people. There are probably two things going on there. One is akin to the inadvertant but habitual seeking out of abusive relationships. Here, the person is presented with signs of problems to come, but consitently overlooks them. Often the people around them can see something that they can’t. Or it could be just a simple matter of learning from your mistakes. You don’t get to use your intuition the same way as you would in real life, so you have to develop methods that will make up for this. What I don’t hear about in these cases is any attempt to prevent this by changing the way they do things. This usually explains why they’re getting the same results. It presents a challenge, but again, how could you turn this around by using the new abilities that internet dating gives you? One way is to be more direct with people in the future. This is easier for most people to do online, and as a result more common. So learn how to take full advantage of this benefit. It may take some time. But it’s hard to give internet dating a fair chance until you do. What could you learn if you could ask people the kinds of questions that can take weeks, months, even years to get answered otherwise? Remember I said that internet dating can be the fastest way to sort through people? Here’s the most common challenge of all… getting a decent response to your profile or emails. Profiles in general is a subject that’s too big to get into here, so let me restrict this to email. The vast majority of this involves men. There are approximately 4 times as many men doing this than women. Add that to the fact that men initiate far more than women and you can start to see where response might be a problem. There are many upsides that can compensate for this. A common one is that men can spare themselves the indimidation factor in approaching women. And if they play their cards right, internet dating can be a real confidence builder. Chatting with women online is a skill that’s not just useful for getting dates online. It carries over to offline situations as well. But I digress… To this problem, the basic answer is the same. That is, you have to change what you’re doing to get different results. But that’s a little to vague in this case. The problem is that women continue to see the same kinds of emails coming a lot of different men. For the more attractive ones, it’s out of control. Under these conditions, you have to do something fundamentally different in your approach to stand out… and standing out is the only way to get fair consideration. Just refining your current approach isn’t going to be enough if your current approach isn’t working. Take a lesson from nature – evolution had the same idea when it gave male peacocks their colorful tails. What you do differently depends partly on you, because it’s mostly just a matter of you being secure in your uniqueness. But until you are, and until you’ve developed your unique style around that, there are some things that you have to understand. Things that most guys who aren’t naturals don’t know. Once you do, your results will improve dramatically, reinforcing your authentic character instead of calling it into question. That’s as much detail as I can go into in this article, but I’ll leave you with this… If you want to make internet dating work for you, learn about what you have available to you, use it, experiment with it, get creative, and try new things. At the same time, you have to be aware of what’s going on in your head. In other words, what are you telling yourself? Become aware of thought patterns that are working against you. If you catch them, stop them immediately and replace them with ones that serve you better. It’s not so much what’s online or what’s offline that will determine your results. It’s what’s in your head. Your Weight Loss Plan for 2007

By Craig Ballantyne Most people think they have to starve themselves and do hours of cardio to lose fat. But that’s not true. You can lose weight and increase your metabolism with a hard diet or boring exercise plan. I strongly recommend a diet of whole, natural foods combined with fast strength and interval training workouts to help you get results in a hurry. Q: How much fat can I lose with strength and interval training? Answer: The short answer is, ‘a lot’. To be more specific, you should be able to lose one pound of body fat each week (in addition to following sound fat loss nutritional practices). At the same time, you should expect to gain or maintain muscle. Overall, total weight loss will be about a pound per week. Q: Why should I only use each version of a workout for 3-4 weeks? Answer: We want to keep the element of variety in the training program to achieve consistent fat loss (see the above article). Nothing, except poor eating, halts fat loss like staying on a training program for too long. By switching it up on a frequent basis, you’ll avoid fat loss plateaus and keep making gains in strength and fitness at the same time. Q: I’m starting strength and interval training today and I’m unsure what is meant by interval training. Also, as I improve can I reduce the low intensity time to 30 seconds, and then if I improve further can I add more sets? Answer: One set of interval training is defined as: Each time you do an interval and follow it with a rest period. Therefore, to do 3 sets means you will do three intervals and you’ll rest three times. As for improving, focus on increasing the intensity of the intervals. As you get fit, the once relatively hard interval will soon be an easy interval. Therefore, you will just need to increase the resistance. As we improve, simply use a higher level on the stationary cycle. You can reduce the rest periods to 60 seconds, but we don’t often reduce them any further. The key to success is the work interval intensity. Don’t sacrifice work intensity by reducing the rest interval too much. We might also increase the duration or number of work intervals, but we don’t do any more than 12 intervals in a workout. Q: What is the rationale for the eating plan? Answer: 1. Recent research* has shown that subjects lost more fat mass and had a greater reduction in their systolic blood pressure when they substituted almonds for complex carbohydrates in their diet. *Wien, M., et al. Almonds vs complex carbohydrates in a weight reduction program. Int. J. Obes. 27: 1365-1372, 2003. 2. The post-workout nutrition was chosen based on John Berardi’s recommendations given in the last newsletter. According to John, “During the post-workout period, the body makes a distinctive metabolic shift. It shifts toward fat oxidation (burning) at the expense of carbohydrate. In other words, most of the energy your body uses during recovery comes from fat. At the same time, carbohydrate storage becomes a priority; the body’s attempt to refill those muscle and liver glycogen stores.” 3. Recent research** has shown that, “the American-healthy pattern was characterized by high intakes of green, leafy vegetables; salad dressings; tomatoes; other vegetables (eg, peppers, green beans, corn, and peas); cruciferous vegetables; and tea.” **Kerver, J., et al. Dietary patterns associated with risk factors for cardiovascular disease in healthy US adults Amer. J. Clin. Nutr. 78: 1103-1110, 2003. His trademarked Turbulence Training fat loss workouts have been featured multiple times in Mens Fitness and Maximum Fitness magazines and all over the Internet, and have helped thousands of men and women around the world lose fat, gain muscle, and get lean in less than 45 minutes three times per week. How to Start A Food Ministry

By Sarah Sandori One of the most rewarding activities that any church or other group can undertake is a food ministry. As someone who has helped start food ministries before, I must warn you that it is also a tremendous amount of work. Don’t jump into it on a whim or without doing sufficient planning. A food ministry can take one of several forms. A soup kitchen is the most familiar to many people. Increasingly, though, food ministries are being built around the idea of providing groceries to individuals and families in the community. Whatever type of food ministry you decide to start, it is crucial that you have the full backing and encouragement of your church or group’s governing board. A significant number of members of the group must be honestly committed to putting in the time and energy to keep it going on a long-term basis. A relatively new concept is that of outsourcing food ministry organizing to an outside group that is experienced with sourcing groceries, obtaining them at good prices, and helping to set up a distribution system. This does not take away from local church members the responsibility for making the activity a success. What it does do is relieve you from having to reinvent the wheel. My favorite group along this line is Angel Food Ministries, based in Monroe, Georgia, and dedicated to providing grocery relief to communities throughout the United States. Non-profit and non-denominational, Angel Food Ministries was started in February, 1994, feeding 34 families that first month. Since then it has expanded to more than 30 states, feeding well over 100,000 families in a typical month. Angel Food Ministries works through local churches and other community organizations, which are designated as “host sites.” Host sites purchase units, or boxes, of groceries through the organization for distribution to needing households. The food is restaurant-grade meats, frozen vegetables, dairy products, etc. It is all first-quality, name-brand food–never “seconds” or “day old” type goods. There’s information on how to become an Angel Food Ministries host site at www.angelfoodministries.com, along with complete details of how the program works. Whether you start your own food ministry from scratch, or affiliate with an organization such as Angel Food Ministries, I know that you will feel richly blessed. Get everyone on board, do your planning, and–assuming the commitment is there–you will succeed. Sarah Sandori is the food and entertaining columnist for the Solid Gold Info Writers Consortium. Top Five Universities in the Southeast

By Chris Stout Choosing the school that’s right for you can be one of the most harrowing decisions you will ever have to make. There are very few choices in life that commit us to years in a new place, with new people, and can possibly shape the course of the rest of our lives. It is no wonder that people approach this decision with a huge amount of anxiety and fear. Before deciding upon an institution of higher learning, it is wise to consider what exactly it is you are looking for. Just because a school is ranked number one in the nation, does not mean it will necessarily be able to fit your needs—all the hopes and dreams that are particular to you. When shopping for a school, be sure to consider not only academic excellence, but also the quality of student life, and the track record of alumnae. How much interaction do students have with professors? What do students do to let off steam? What do the school’s graduates tend to do and do they enjoy it? These are some of the questions that were taken into consideration in the researching and writing of this list of the top five universities in the Southeast. While no list will perfectly reflect the experience of every student, we are confident that the schools that earned their way onto this list are each phenomenal, each in their own way. 1. Duke University, Durham, NC Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, tops the list of best universities in the Southeast due to a nearly unbeatable combination of outstanding academics and consistently high level of student enjoyment of life and engagement in campus activities. Duke is highly competitive, and for good reason. Applicants come from around the nation and the world, giving Duke a unique flavor among Southeastern schools, at once familiar and exotic, traditional and modern. Duke’s Durham campus allows access to a wealth of opportunities, both cultural and educational. A Duke education is great to have; first you have to get accepted. 2. Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD Like Duke, number two Johns Hopkins University is not just one of the best schools in the Southeast, but one of the best in the entire country. Johns Hopkins is known as one of the most challenging academic programs in the nation. Students are seen not as passive receptacles for professors to pour wisdom into, but as active participants in their education. Johns Hopkins gives students a role in shaping their education that is unlike that at any other university. 3. Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. Georgetown University, number three on this list, is the oldest Catholic university in the nation. Georgetown’s stellar reputation for its accessible faculty and wide-ranging programs is well earned. The school’s District of Columbia location gives Georgetown students a thrilling opportunity to enhance their educational and cultural experience by immersing themselves not only in school but in the thriving life of the nation’s capitol. 4. University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA The University of Virginia earns its place on this list by joining a liberal arts college feel with a full research university. Academics are rigorous at University of Virginia, but students still report a rich life outside of the classroom, enjoying the historic environs of the school and its Charlottesville setting. 5. Emory University, Atlanta, GA Finally, Atlanta’s Emory University fights its way onto the list with its offering of a broad education combined with a sense of mission, involving students in international, national, and local communities. Like the others who share space on this list, Emory University is an outstanding place to receive an education. Getting past the competitive admission process may be the hardest part of you Emory experience. How To Find True Inexpensive Gifts For The People On Your Gift List

By Gregg Hall Gift giving is a way to show you care. During the holidays people become more aware of those in need around them. The urge to give gifts is natural but it doesn’t have to break your budget. There are many in need throughout the entire year although most people only think of giving to them at Christmas. There are many ways to give without spending a lot of money. One of the best and most inexpensive gifts is your time. Helping deliver meals to shut ins, feeding the homeless, or even babysitting your neighbor’s child are all examples. Many food pantries and shelters are overwhelmed with people at this time of year and would always welcome an extra set of hands. Anything from clothes to blankets to food is sometimes needed to be delivered to those in need. Another inexpensive present to give is kindness. It may be a meal to an elderly neighbor or a helping hand to that tired looking mom in the grocery store. Kindness is often overlooked as the best gift worth giving. The best part is the fast return, better than any money market account. You will feel the joy instantly. Using the skills you already have is a great way to give a present. If you can build offer to help fix something for someone. If you sew, make a warm sweater for the person you see living on the street. If you cook take a fresh cooked meal to someone in need like the person you watch buying only bread and potatoes from the store every week because they can’t afford anything else. If you can read go to a school and volunteer your time, read to the kids who can’t read. If you can listen, sit by the elderly woman on the bus who has no one to talk to. If you can write then write to a soldier in Iraq, then write to his wife and children in the US spending the holidays alone. The holidays are also a good time to remember those serve others the rest of the year. Try giving a card to your doorman, garbage man, policeman even the minister. You can make a card using stamps or writing in calligraphy. Many people deserve a thank you card such as gas station attendant or the waitress who brought your food, even the bagger at the grocery store. A thank you note or letter will brighten their holiday. There are many gifts that a person can give that don’t cost anything. The only thing they cost is your time, energy, compassion and heart. During the holiday season you can give an inexpensive present that is worth more than all the money you have. Look around and then get busy! Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Florida. Finding A Cheap Cellular Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michelle_Bery]Michelle Bery The cell phone has quickly been elevated to the accessory of choice among a society dependent upon quick communication and convenience that fits in our pockets. And as the cell phone continues to morph in design so does the price tag that comes attached to it. Initially a luxury item, cell phones came at a great price. Todays cell phones are standard equipment for the multi-tasking among us and come at a largely affordable price. But the prices also vary greatly depending on the services that each phone offers. Finding a cheap cellular phone is absolutely possible especially as models go out of style and are improved upon but it is imperative to ensure you do not sacrifice function for price. With increased market competition, the consumer is at the advantage able to comparison shop among the vast array of cellular phone companies working to build and maintain a customer base. Finding a cheap cellular phone is possible by shopping the deals offered by these companies; some will offer cheap cellular phones as an incentive to sign a new contract or renew an existing one; or you may be able to find a cheap cellular phone in a model that is being discontinued or improved upon. Look also for periodic sales held by cell phone companies wherein they will offer a cheap cellular phone for new customers. But a cheap cellular phone should not mean an ineffective or poorly made cellular phone. Its important to make sure that you dont get the bad end of the deal when trying to save money on a cell phone. If a cheap cellular phone does not work, breaks easily, or provides poor service, then you will simply wind up replacing it; in effect you have just doubled the money youve paid for something that was supposed to be affordable. The cell phone is here to stay as evidenced by the large population of people who are dependent upon its services. As technology changes and the cell phone models change alongside of it, the cheap cellular phone will continue to be widely available. Is Shyness Keeping You From the Girl of Your Dreams?

By Jennifer L. Hunt The Question: There is this girl at my church that I think might like me. Every time I get a chance to say something to her I don’t because I’m really shy. What can I say or do to break the ice? The Answer: The challenge here is that you really like her and really want her to like you. And that’s the problem. That wanting translates into fear – fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of being alone. STOP! Let’s go through this together so you will be able to approach her with ease the next time you see her. She’s a regular person, just like you Don’t put her on a pedestal just because you like her. This is one of the biggest mistakes men make with women, which is why they strike out so often. Remember, she’s a regular person, just like you. So, treat her that way. Be nice, friendly, and most of all, confident in yourself. You wouldn’t be shy talking to one of your guy friends or a girl that you have no interest in, right? So treat her like that – just one of your friends. Men and women aren’t nearly as different as we all like to believe. At the end of the day we’re all people with needs, feelings, hopes, dreams, etc. We all need friends, companionship, and so on. How can you tell if she likes you? When you talk with her, notice how you feel. Do you feel like you WANT her to like you, or do you feel that she DOES like you? Is there a strong surge of energy, a magical spark between the two of you? Down deep, you’ll know if she really likes you. You can feel it. Trust your gut. Warning. Many guys make a big deal about asking a girl if she likes them. Don’t ever do that. You’ll put her on the spot and she’ll have to choose without getting to know you first. It’s like deciding if you want to buy a car without ever sitting in it. The key here is confidence and belief in you. Listen for what’s in your heart, not for what you want to be there. If you’re too nervous to even talk without stuttering, then you won’t be able to read your gut feelings. So it’s very important to get a grip on yourself and just relax. What if she turns you down? Before you approach any woman, tell yourself that it’s perfectly OK if she doesn’t go out with you. Heck, it’s perfectly fine if she doesn’t like you at all. Your life will be no different than it is now, but you will have more experience in approaching women. That’s it. Read this over and over until you get it: You have absolutely nothing to lose. Lots of men get their egos crushed because a really hot girl won’t go out with them. Well, guess what? Fact is there are hundreds of reasons why she may not want to go out with you – or with anyone else for that matter. She could be in a committed relationship, could be a lesbian, could be grieving a loss of some sort, could be having her time of the month, could be having a bad day for any other number of reasons, etc. Or, you simply may not be her type. And that’s OK too. Wouldn’t you agree that’s it’s better to know up front? With all that put together, assuming that you are her type, you have a 20% chance (at best) of succeeding when you approach a woman. That’s life, deal with it. This bears repeating. At any given time, a woman may not be interested in any man whatsoever. Accept that and go on. It’s just a fact of life. The key point here is not to take it personally and go hide in the closet. Follow your heart and approach all the women you feel attracted to. You will find one, or more, that you really click with. Have fun and don’t take life so seriously. How to approach her – the magical ice breaker Now that we’re past that, it’s time to actually move in. She’s not going to know you like her if she doesn’t know you exist. So let’s get on with it. Simply go talk to her. There’s no magic to it. Just go over there and make some small talk. Don’t be overly eager and don’t have a firm agenda. Just say hello and see what happens. Let her feel you out. Think of two dogs when they first meet – they growl a little and spend lots of time sniffing each other. People do the same thing really… it’s all about getting a feel for the other person. We like to think we’re more evolved than lower animals like dogs, but they actually have a lot to teach us. I’ve yet to ever meet a person that’s as pure at heart as a dog. Ask her out – leaving the “Friend Zone” At some point you’re going to have to make your move and depart the friend zone . Now, this may not be in the first minute or two, and maybe not even the first time you talk to her. The key here again is self confidence. You’ll also need a little patience. Take your time and feel it out first. Don’t make her choose until you know she’s comfortable enough with you to give you a chance and you’re comfortable enough to take the chance. Now, on the sex and physical attraction issue… Most guys assume that men and women want drastically different things, and sex is something that’s to be won over from the woman – like a special gift. Wrong! That’s a very dangerous perspective which will leave you doing the sex thing all by yourself for a long time. Many years ago my father gave me a bit of insight on this. He said “she wants it just as much as you do”. In my early teens that nugget didn’t really do much for me. But as I grew into an adult, that advice took on special meaning. It’s important to remember that women want and need companionship (and yes, even sex) just as much as men do. Love yourself – guys read this section, it’s for you Decide today to love and embrace yourself. Yes, even as a guy, you can still love and embrace who you are. In fact, guys are notorious for self loathing and not appreciating themselves. Guess what? As any good salesman will tell you, if you don’t believe in yourself and in what you’re selling, nobody’s going to buy from you. If you don’t love yourself and don’t think highly of yourself, nobody else will either. Guaranteed. So get over the self punishing and self loathing and decide to change your life today. Yes, you. Need some help going up to her or asking her out? For advice on how to approach a woman and ask her out, let’s get some advice from some of the experts in the pick up and seduction community. A word of warning. Some of the advice from these guys involves psychological and hypnosis tricks to get women to want you. But always remember to be yourself, because while many of these tricks will get you that hot girl for the night, they won’t get you a real girlfriend. In the end she’s going to see you for who you really are and you’re better off getting her to like the real you from the beginning. In summary Don’t put her on a pedestal – treat her like a regular person Be nice, friendly, and open. Approach her… Yes, you will have to do this eventually. Talk to her about something, anything. It’s not about what you say; it’s how you say it. 5 Reasons to Purchase a Wedding Planner

By Michelle Davis Planning a wedding can be hectic at best, and it may be difficult for busy brides to keep everything organized as the planning is taking place. Having a wedding planner can be invaluable and they are usually inexpensive to buy. If your wedding planning is in chaos, consider these great reasons for breaking down and buying a wedding planner to help you out. A Guideline to Go By One great reason to buy a wedding planner is that they usually come with suggestions and a calendar to go by. You may have no idea how far in advance to hire your cake designer or when to send out those invitations. A wedding planner can help you with those important times. While you do not have to follow a planner to the letter, they do give great guidelines. Planners help you make sure you are getting things done at the right times. Keeping Track of Important Appointments and Numbers Another great reason to go ahead and buy a wedding planner is that it helps you organize your appointments and phone numbers all in one place. Forget the sticky notes plastered all over your desk that often fall off or get lost. Planners allow you to keep your appointments organized so you will never miss one and will help you save important phone numbers that you need to keep. Storing Guest List Information A wedding planner can also help you keep track of your guest list and their addresses. As you make your final guest list, you can record it in your planner. You can also write down the addresses, as well, to keep all your guest information together in one place. This is also helpful when you are sending out thank-you cards after the wedding, since you will already have the addresses that you will need all in one place. Organizing Everything in One Place Buying a wedding planner will allow you to have all your wedding details and information all in one place. It can get confusing to have wedding information stored in various places and when meeting with someone about your wedding you may accidentally forget some important information that you need. Having a wedding planner allows you to always have all of your information in the same place so none is forgotten, lost or left out. A Way to Remember A wedding planner keep you well organized and on target for your wedding. It also gives you something to look back to as you remember those exciting days of planning before the big day. Your wedding planner can almost act as a pre-wedding journal that you and your spouse can look back on in the future. No matter how organized you may be, getting a planner specifically for your wedding can be a great help. From helping you with guest addresses, appointments and important phone numbers to allowing you to look back on your wedding. A wedding planner is a great buy for any bride to make.
